Greeting from West Papua

I’m pleased to welcome you to our website and to our campus

The Politeknik Kelautan dan Perikanan Sorong belongs to the Indonesian Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, managing 11 Polytechnics across the country. Since its establishment in 2001, our Polytechnic expands its global network, advancing research, and creating innovation. The campus is located at the cornel west of the Bird’s Head Peninsula, known as an exceptional place as the heart of the Coral Triangle.

Heart of Coral Triangle is widely recognized located in Raja Ampat, home of more than 600 species of hard coral, representing 75% of the world’s coral reefs diversity. Compared to the similar-sized marine ecosystem on Earth, the Raja Ampat is an incomparable richness area.

Since 2007, we have been working with a dozen foreign institutions on aquatic research partnerships (i.e aquatic biotas inhabiting freshwater, brackish and marine ecosystems). Our results of collaboration to date comprise capacity building (master and doctoral programs), publication on international journals, patenting, and produced materials used for teaching, campaign, and community engagement.

The International Office is here to help you to be one of our partners and interact with 30 lecturers, 348 students (58% are Papuan origin). Our team will always provide you a simple way and the best service.

Welcome to Papua,
Head of International Office, Innovation and Partnership
